I have run MM 5.7.2 and 5.8 through VirusTotal and I get 1 alert out of 54 possible signals. Maybe it's a false positive because I don't think the plugin people have done this to end up putting viruses in the code. Here I leave the result of the scan in case someone knows more and can tell us...
